Ode To High School

Okay, Not really. I won't be sing-song-ing this post anytime soon, I promise. :) This past week I realized just how ready I am for college. I went to prom. (WOOT) With my BFF Dustin. We've been friends since preschool. It was a pretty good time, but it made me realize how ready I am to move past the immaturity that is high school. Anyway, I'm sure you want pictures, so here they are. :) These are the homemade ones. We had Alana Lange take some pretty sweet ones, you'll have to FB them until I get my CD. :)
Once again, my mother helped craft my lovely dress, the last one she will probably ever make. :) Surprisingly enough she was actually a little sad! Even after the 16 yards of tulle she had to gather. Good thing she loves me ;)

 I made the flower in my hair
 and his! (not in his hair, on his suit) :)

Okay. These are a little old. But I've been meaning to post them for a real long time :) All of these were homemade by my momma with a teeny bit of help from me. :) I used these in my Sterling Scholar book.

Dear Cancer;

Please stop popping into my life. I don't like you and I don't need you bothering the people I love.

Please and Thanks.

Love, Carlee.

My life is FINALLY getting exciting.

Where do I start? I know it's been a while. But like anyone reads my blog anyway. The last two weeks have been crazy. Insane almost.

Two weeks ago my mom went in for her yearly mammogram. They called her back and wanted her to go in on Thursday so they could take some more pictures. While I was in areobics my sister called and said that they found a spot, and the doctor was 60% sure it was cancer. Great news during school right? Pretty freakin' sweet. Yesterday she went into surgery. She came out feeling pretty sick, but she's doing better now. We don't find out anything until Monday at the earliest though.

On the 23rd, My parents and I went to the Sterling Scholar Awards Ceremony. KSL videos parts of it, so OF COURSE I had to go buy a new dress to wear, Just in case I won. ;) There were 15 finalists in each category and they chose 2 runners up and one winner. The first category was English. They called the 15 finalists up and read their names. Then they named the two runners up, and then they started naming the accomplishments of the Sterling Scholar. These included, but were not limited to; Published a novel, Built a village, Taught poor children how to read, blah blah blah. Basically, they were amazing. By the fourth winner I was convinced that I was going home with nothing. And, let's be honest, I was perfectly okay with that. I felt pretty good just getting to that level.

So the FACS department gets called up and my legs were shaking. Why? Not sure. I was going home with nothing, remember? They name the runners up and I was like wait.... Did they say MY name? WHAT!? I WON!!! Well, I didn't win. But I was a runner up. Which was amazing enough for me. I got a check for $700 which was pretty freakin' sweet if I do say so myself!!

Then, If that wasn't enough excitment for one week, on Friday the 25th I signed myself up for the Hyrum Pageant. Mostly as a joke. Funny right?Especially when I was in the interview and they asked me who the mayor of Hyrum was. "Er.... No Idea." What do you say? I thought for sure I was going home with nothing. Well, this whole thing is a little less funny when you end up being the Queen of Hyrum. Yeah, that really happened. I about died, along with the rest of my family that was there. Look for me in all of the parades! :)

School gets out soon. College is coming up. I have to register for SOAR tonight and send back all of my scholarship stuff. SCARY. Life is scary. But I'm excited. :)
